Just during the past 2014 World Cup Brazil, Adidas once fought a tug-of-war over tainted clothing with an environmental protection organization. This organization disclosed a toxicology report concerning a new batch of products for inspection. The report stated that,” Inspection products from Adidas, Nike and Puma, was found with residual poisonous and harmful chemical. They are all major sponsors of World Cup Brazil.”

And then, Adidas released formal claims as response. “As the pioneer of chemical management in textile industry, our company promise to realize detoxication. We will take public acquisition into consideration and weed out PFCs.” It is obvious that detoxication in clothing industry is imperative.

What’s more, European Commission will also set about drawing up eco-label standards concerning textile and clothing products under this circumstance. The standards will involve harmful chemical substances, recycled and reclaimed proportion, energy efficiency and water resource management.

Eco-label Rules of European Union (EU) are acceptable to textile and clothing products, as well as fiber, yarn, cloth, zipper, fastener, etc. It is mainly used to find out if there are any bad influences made to the environment by products. The whole life cycle of products is considered under this rule. The period is calculated from the election of raw materials to the process of production, application and discard.

Manufactures can not achieve the eco-label until they guaranteed that the products are rid of harmful elements which are listed on the Restrict Substance List. Moreover, only products that are unique at present and meet expectation of consumers or the specification can achieve eco-label.
